Yes, it is official. We are going to live in Ecuador... We met with an attorney this afternoon to begin the Permanent Resident Visa process.. It takes some time, but the wheels are in motion. The attorney's office is in Otavalo is just a short taxi ride away.. We actually made the trip twice, since I forgot an important document at our hotel. And, the last taxi ride was, well probably the fastest time between these two towns ever. What a ride!(and no extra charge).
We now have some contacts necessary to locate our permanent home. (long term rental for now) So, tomorrow we may get to check out a few possibilities. There seem to be many available, just need to do some comparing, etc. We also have our first official Spanish lesson tomorrow morning.
We enjoyed another walk around the town, stopping for dinner at a local cafe - a very good burger, believe it or not. It has been so nice - no need for a car - we can walk anywhere in the town in a matter of minutes and the walk of course doesn't hurt either.
Oh, yes, we did get up this morning for another great breakfast - then back to bed for a nap before a big day in the city.
We have included some pictures of Otavalo. It's a city of about 40,000. They have a large market there where the indigenous people bring there beautiful handmade, items to sell. We will plan a day to go just to the market either later this week or next week.

| We stood on a corner and took a picture looking one way at the interesting street lights. |
 |
| On the same corner , same street this the street lights the opposite direction in front of the church. Interesting. |
 |
| The doors of the churches are beautiful carved masterpieces. |
 |
| Gas cans like these are delivered and used for supplying hot water and gas for the stoves. |
 |
| Yes they have dollar stores in Ecuador. |
More to follow tomorrow...
